ADT WITHDRAWAL

Hello,

I had a 3 month Goserelin depot injection back in May in conjunction with my salvage radiation.

My RO said no to continuing ADT as my blood test showed no psa detectable. I'm okay with that.

My question relates to the withdrawal effects of the Goserelin. Everyday at some point I feel like I get some very mild tingling in my arms between my shoulders and wrists and generally on the inside portion of my arms. It actually feels kind of nice and a little bit invigorating. Could it possibly be minute amounts of testosterone starting to be created and circulating through my body?

Anybody else been in this situation and felt something similar?

I feel it laying in bed as well when I'm perfectly still. It's not constant, there's an ebb and flow to it at least as I notice it.

I have no other medical issues and am in good shape besides the cancer I'm hopefully leaving behind.

The withdrawal response follows a rule of thumb - time ON ADT = time to Recovery (OFF).

This is not etched in stone, but may be fairly common, based on my own experience AND what I've read over the years.

The 'tingling' may be a bit of neuropathy - a side effect of ADT that affects some. It should resolve itself in due time.

There is another possibility - as you've described - part of your recovery MIGHT be associated with the benefit of the exercising you're doing - assuming you are rebuilding muscle mass.

At the end of the day, 3 months of ADT should NOT cause serious or lingering side effects.

I'm making assumptions, but you stated that you are healthy (overall). Your testosterone is increasing.

Wishing you the best - hoping for a full recovery .....

Thanks. Yes it's difficult to kind of figure out what it is, I'm guessing just a minor side effect of the Zoladex. It isn't an issue and doesn't bother me one bit.

If the circulation in your arm has been cutoff like when you wake up in the middle of the night and you need to reposition it with the other arm to get the blood flowing, it is kind of like that tingling when you start to get the feeling back but no where near as severe, more of a light and enjoyable tingle. I use power tools all the time and play the piano so maybe there is some neuropathic related issues, never thought of that till you mentioned.
