Zytiga could cause an elevation of the liver enzymes. This situation could be managed by decreasing the dose of Zytiga depending on the magnitude of the increase of the enzymes or bilirubin. If the problem persist when taken only 500 mg, Zytiga should be discontinue .
I have been on Zytiga (+ prednisone and Lupron) for three months. My biggest problem in taking zytiga is scheduling the daily 500 mg doses of zytiga so they fall on an empty stomach. Recently, I have read some comments To the effect, that the dose of Zytiga can be reduced to 250mg, if it is taken with a full fat breakfast. Could someone please provide more info or a few references about this approach. Thank you.
There was a research study published by University of Chicago late last year where they found that bioavailablity of Zytiga (Abi) is the same if 1000 mg is taken empty stomach OR 250 mg of Zytiga taken with full fat breakfast. This study results were published in many popular magazines and newspapers.
