Olaparib-Keytruda Trial

Update of my adventures on this trial:

11 days in after 1 infusion of Keytruda and taking four caps of Olaparib I developed a significant rash all over my body. Went to Emergency room. Steroids knocked it down had me suspend Olaparib until my next visit 10 days later. Dr. Was surprised at this, said rashes don’t usually show up until later. Also vomiting a number of times. So he’s hoping the stopping of Olaparib will allow my body to reset. I will make sure I have Benedryl on hand to curtail it if possible. Still too early to see if it is working.

After a Foundation One genetic test showed Olaparib might work for me, my VA oncologist put me on it..For a few weeks it worked well, my PSA showing a significant drop..But my Red Blood Cell and Hemoglobin counts also dropped to the point I needed a transfusion...Onco cut Olaparib dose in half..It stopped working, PSA resumed its rapid rise (5300 now) RBC's still very low..Lots of things going on backstage, I'll start a new thread later..

Did the genetic test show you being BRCA2+?

Thanks for the update. I was planning to participate in that trial but after brain metastasis showed up I became not eligible. But got approval for off-label Keytruda. So now I'm on the same combination of Lynparza and Keytruda. About 4 weeks after first Keytruda infusion I had very difficult couple weeks with constant fever and immense tiredness, basically hardly even moved. Then it slowly subsided, I had a second infusion (once in 6 weeks). I also had to back off Olaparib down to nothing and then gradually increase back to the original dose. Now I'm on standard 600mg. RBC is a bit below normal range as well as hemoglobin.

I'm struggling with nausea, food aversion and lack of appetite, constant tiredness and sleepiness. I'm taking ginseng and ursolic acid to counteract lack of energy. I'm trying to exercise as much as weakened body and low energy allows.

It should work, stay strong!

FYI I've had 16 treatments (1 every 3 months) of Keytruda for my Lung Melanoma and never had a side effect from the meds. BTW it's working and stopped treatments on 01/10/2018.

Hi J-o-h-n.

Are you still taking Fenbendazole? Have you noticed the positive effects of this treatment, any side effects?

Best regards and I also wish you a good sense of humor.

Hello J-o-h-n,

Thank you for your post.

I confused you with another forum member ( also J-o-h-n ) who wrote me a year ago that he mixes fenbendazole with oatmeal for breakfast.

However, I would like to point out that even if you were taking (secretly) fenbendazole, there is nothing to be ashamed of. Many forum participants are taking fenbendazole and no one is ashamed of it. Me too.

With love,

donits

No problem....

I am not ashamed of the meds fenbendazole but I'd rather eat donits for breakfast.....

Hi j-o-h-n,

Thanks for your post. I think we have something in common because I love donits too, but I think my memory is better than yours ;-)
