Has anybody heard of a Company / Hospital in Mijas , Spain and Gibraltar who is offering Dendritic Cell Therapy for various cancers including prostate?

It is a form of immunotherapy where a blood draw is taken from the patient, " engineered" and then replaced into the patient about 9 days later.

If anybody has any information, or has indeed tried this I would be very grateful of your input.

Many thanks.

Michael

You are probably referring to Provenge. I have gone through this treatment. Your blood is put through a centrifuge and the white cells are removed. The white cells are then sent off to have the Provenge added. Those enhanced white blood cells are are infused back into you. This is done three times over 6 weeks.

Provenge is for soft tissue prostate cancer.

Provenge (sipuleucel-T) is approved in the US, and there is a new dendritic cell infusion called APCEDEN, approved in India.

I know several guys who have done Provenge. It involves 3 long (3 hour) sessions (leukapheresis) where they remove the dendritic cells. Then they engineer the cells and re-infuse them the following week after each leukapheresis. Side effects were mild- some itchiness and mild organ inflammation in one guy. One guy did not produce enough new dendritic cells fast enough, so they had to wait a few weeks and do it again.
