Feeling pretty upbeat....got my psa results back. 3 months ago my psa was 1.4 ,this past week my psa results are 0.1. I finished 45 days of radiation therapy last month and have my 3rd scheduled Lupron shot next week. He has me on a 2 year program and wondering what comes after that? My shots are every 3 months for that duration.....how’s everybody doing with their treatments and the safer at home orders with this virus?

Psa and prostate treatments
You are posting on a site for advanced prostate cancer, so I assume you had radiation to both your prostate and your metastases?
No,mine didn’t spread from my prostate. When I had my treatments, they went all around my prostate for half the treatments and then the last half was directed to my prostate.
You might get more replies on the other site. This site is for men with advanced PC

But to answer your question... if all went well, you are done.
I applaud you for using this group. You’re never “done” with prostate cancer. In 2009, I started a 7.5 year remission with undetectable PSA after RP and radiation of the prostate bed. Recurrence happened in 2016 and I’m in remission again after chemo and more radiation. Beware of people who make very definitive claims about your situation.
Was there any evidence of cancer outside your prostate? Why do they have you on Lupron for so long?
No,mine didn’t spread from my prostate. My Gleason score is a 10, so that’s probably why the 2 year program. I went through 45 days of radiation also. I get my Lupron shot this Tuesday and will be able to talk and ask more questions as I’m learning more everyday and being on this forum.
Worth reading re Lupron. "Androgen Deprivation Therapy: An Essential Guide for Prostate Cancer Patients and Their Loved Ones." I had rough time with Lupron. Hope you have better experience.
Good luck to you.

Ed could you plese give the source URL for "Androgen Deprivation Therapy: An Essential Guide for Prostate Cancer Patients and Their Loved Ones."
I bought from Amazon. Paperback. Don't know if it's online. Excellent description of what happens on Lupron and many coping strategies for dealing with side effects
Great news. Keep fighting the monster 🙏🙏
You are never really done with prostate cancer unless you had a small low grade lesion that was totally organ confined and they did a prostatectomy and hooked it out or carpet bombed it with radiation.
Then you may be done with it, the odds are very good that you will never see it again.
Anyone that had high grade or none organ confined disease has a low to good chance that it will rear its ugly head more or less somewhere down the line as long as you live for a reasonable time.
The longest time of remission before recurrence I have seen was 22 years, as you can imagine, the guy was pretty old, the PSADT was low so really it was pretty likely that something else would get him before the recurrent PCa.
After 2 years i took myself off of it being undetectable. 6 months later psa shot up to 4. With a gleason 7. Well that was the end of that.
Always on guard. 2016 radiation and 9 months of Lupron. Very low T after one year. Changed my workout method because of osteopenia from the Lurpon and other potential damages. Started getting stronger and building bones. My T shot up to 700 and my PSA started moving from the invisable to the visable. This time I'm trying to raise my Free T and control aromatase. Dealing with guesswork about impact from CORVID-19 doesn't help.
Hey Suds, sounds like you are doing all the right things. I had surgery, radiation and a year of Lupron treatments. The side affects were really wearing my body down. Weight gain, lethargy, swollen feet and hands and body aches. Some people fair far better than that. Good luck, try to get as much exercise as you can and keep healthy snacks around.
Best of luck
No advice here. Best of wishes.
Sounds like your plan reflects a standard of care that offers a possible cure.
The ADT time line might be a matter of some debate because there lacks consensus of how long you should be on it. Typically, the numbers range from 18 months to 2 years.
Note that the longer you are on Lupron, the more likely that the side effects COULD become permanent. There are some factors to consider, such as your age and overall health at the time of Dx and treatment.
Some further reading was suggested - I would second that thought.
Hope you manage ADT well - some of us have had problems with the SEs .....

Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.

Suds, anybody, anybody at all, with a Gleason 10 belongs on this site! Of the 50 plus men that I know with a Gleason 9-10, became metastatic sooner than later. Abundance of caution here. Study up on micro-metastasis; it’s a great conversation to have with your RO.
By the way, there are men on this site who are not metastatic and their comments have always been welcomed.
Great killing the bastards.
