PSA dropped from 12.9 to 6.6(last time it was this low was 9/16/19) this month with the abiraterone and ADT. T at 3. Was getting psychologically prepped for another round of chemos, had 15 Taxotere chemo sessions
Taking 4 pills with a cup of yogurt and then breaking fast 30 mins later. Not taking the prednisone (plz refrain from hating on me 😉) and have no side effects : BP fine, liver panel normal, potassium is great. Also, glad not to be on it as it may lower immune system.
So, I'll monitor it monthly and hope for the best. Life with #stageIVpca

It's really helping me offset the ADT induced fat gain and depression. A slow hike of 5 miles in a park near my house really perked me up. Bad news that the Orange County marathon where I was a Legacy was cancelled! That was the one I did in 2015 three days post chemo ocregister.com/2015/04/30/c...
Everything is being cancelled now. If we can keep afloat this should pass by August . Who really knows?
Glad to hear the abiraterone is working for you. Not judging your decision, just want pass on some information.
There has been a Phase II trial with Abiraterone and no steroid and for most patients it was fine, although they did recommend close monitoring, mainly because of excess mineralocorticoid toxicity which occured in 12% of patients. Here's the info if you'd like to read it.
Certainly not at all hating on you here, but... Specifically what are your reasons for avoiding the prednisone that is almost always prescribed with abiraterone?
Hi, I knew that the prednisone was a replacement dose for the chance that it was lowered with the Abiraterone. I just didn't wanna add another med to the others and I've seen reported men here on HU of the side effects and I esp didn't wanna have insomnia, I already have sleeping issues. I still work 6 days/week as a DDS and I need to be well rested. My best to you Brother
