An update on my situation. To review, I now appear to be castrate resistant after about 6 1/2 years of being castrate sensitive. My MO put me on Abiraterone, along the existing Lupron. I had my MO appt and my PSA has fallen from 4.5 to 2 after about 7 weeks on Abi. This is my second iteration with Abi. I was put on it, along with Lupron, when I was first diagnosed. Side effects are much less onerous this time around with Abi. I really just have the same SE's I've experienced wtih Lupron: relatively mild hot flashes and moderate fatigue. No increase in those this time. My last experience with Abi was that my SE's, while the same as Lupron-only, were more intense with Abi added to the Lupron. And my liver numbers went wonky when first put on Aib last time. All looks good this time.
So I have my next Lupron injection at the end of May and my next MO appt is in Aug/Sept, assuming my PSA stays good. I'll go in for one or two PSA tests before the MO appt just to make sure my PSA is behaving. My MO has put up standing orders for me to get PSA tests whenever the mood strikes me.
So, the beat goes on ...

Thank you so much for the update. They plan on adding Zytiga to my husband’s Luperon next month ALONG with 5 weeks of EBRT. I am a bit worried about his heart because I read that Zytiga is very hard on one’s heart. Keep posting updates and I wish you all the luck.
Dors your husband have previous heart issues? My husband has been on zytiga for 6 years- I've read that chances of heart issues are higher if there are previous cardiac issues. My husband has not had any heart issues on zytiga. Just to give you an added example. Hoping it works as well for your husband as it has mine.
To clarify: you were on Lupron's and Abi 6.5 years ago, then later went to Lupron only till very recently? Or did you stop Lupron along the way and then resume?
I was doing IADT. I had 4 ADT vacations. I had 20 rounds of RT after vacation #1. When I resumed ADT after the first vacation I only resumed Lupron, no Abi. The details are in my profile.
I know exactly what you mean. Since why I switched to: Nubeqa and Orgovyx for the last 16 months, my PSA stays at .04, which City of Hope defines as undetectable. However, the SE are stronger. I found Lupron not to have the same intensity of these two ADTs. Like it is known, everyone reacts differently. Good luck.
