Gleason 9, stage 4 in 2011

Seeding, radiation, lupron, patch, trelstar, exteva, xtandi, more radiation, still on xtandi but over last 6 months PSA has been rapidly increasing, then provenge treatment but PSA doubled to 247.

Now platelets have been going downhill and had platelet infusion but platelets are down to 29! Onc says bone marrow is not making platelets, probably due to radiation!

Any advise or experience with this? Thanks!

I wonder what is happening with the other blood cells. Do you have the results of a recent CBC?

Yes, White And red are low, hemoglobin too. Absolute Lymps are very low.

This could be a diffuse bone marrow infiltration by the cancer since all the blood cell lines are affected and his PSA has been increasing rapidly reaching a high value. If his MO is not a hematologists, you could request a consultation with a hematologist.

It could be bone marrow invasion from the cancer. How long ago was the radiation and how does the rest of the CBC look? I agree with Nalakrats about getting molecular testing as soon as possible to see if there are targeted treatments available.
