My latest delivery of Zytiga from Optum (previously Briova Rx) included an odd insert along with the other paperwork: "Zytiga Tablet is classified by the U.S. Department of Transportation as having sufficient physical hazards that limit it to ground shipping only."
Does anyone know anything about this?

Mine also comes in a Hazmat-like bag. I'm not worried about anything. I'm just curious because since I get it so soon after ordering, I always thought it was shipped by air. Do you know if yours comes via ground or air?
Yes, I get mine 10-15 days before I run out. My thinking is that there is an overabundance of caution. The package could be lost, or weather and miss-routing could cause a delay!
Mine always is ground.
They always call me in advance and I always place the order.
I get mine by the same pharmacy as you, and always request a certain date with signature required. They will deliver any day but Sunday, which I did get them to do once after they had missed my order. Good luck!!!
I have been ordering it about 5-6 days before delivery, but it is a guaranteed day of delivery, so I am not sure. I believe it comes ground as I do not remember seeing any air stickers on the shipping label or package. Due for another delivery next week so I will check.
From what I remember if a child bearing woman just touches them there can be health issues. Or if you are on Zytiga and vomit the same problem can occur if a woman touches it. So in that respect it’s probably a hazardous material. Maybe hazmat materials can’t be shipped via air.
I saw that same message with last week's shipment, Gearhead. My first, cynical, thought was that Optum is simply trying to save money. But then the safety engineer in me told me to at least look into it. The 08/30/2017 MSDS for Zytiga, aka "Abiraterone Acetate" is quite funny...for example, it is "harmful if swallowed"....yah, got it...
Under the "Stability and Reactivity" section it states that Zytiga is stable and will not polymerize, and that the combustion products are normal, i.e., CO, CO2, and NOx... Finally, the "Transport Information" section labels Zytiga as "not dangerous goods" for land OR air transport....
My cynical side just told me I wasted my time and it was right in the first instance. But I suppose that I don't care overmuch as long as Optum allows earlier renewals...Briovar seemed to want as little "overstock" as possible. Cheers.
I’m pretty sure Cigna specialty pharm did air since next day via FedEx was an option w them. I’m now on Accredo (outsourced) and it takes a few days so I think it’s ground but only to save money. My goal this year is to make a yellow 6x6 bag plastic blanket with my accumulated hazmat bags. Not quite there yet but I hopefully hit 36 months of Zytiga in half a year! 🌞
