Haven’t posted in awhile. Diagnosed in December 18 with PCa with 6 Mets to bones including sternum, rib and scapular. Started Firmagon with PSA of 14. After one month down to 4.5. Original diagnosis with biopsy showed cancer in 11 of 12 cores. Gleason 4/5. Started chemo, docetaxel, and changed to Lupron. Almost stopped chemo. Side effects were hard. So sob could hardly walk up steps. Bones, especially knees, hurt so bad I I couldn’t walk my dogs for awhile. MO lowered dose after third session. Neutrophils down to 1. Started neulasta and took a Claritin during treatment. WBC, RBC and hemoglobin still low but manageable. After chemo PSA was 0.085. Still on Lupron. Had PET scan with F-18 that showed no ca in prostate or anywhere else. Dr did bone scan that showed improved bone scan with no new lesions. I haven’t seen the scan. That was message nurse called to me. Good news all around! What now? Any comments, suggestions? Thanks.

Great response to chemo. Have you discussed abiraterone?

Yes. Prior to scans. After the chemo and the lowered PSA we took a three month break with nothing but continuing Lupron. I see MO next month and that will be on the table.

Did your mo give a reason for the break? Lupron only? My dads onc has a similar approach ... Discussed zytiga but decided to wait

Yes. Had such a rough time with chemo and good response wanted me to break for those reasons also to to see if PSA remained low.

He said that the PSA was low and a break would help me. Went back for PSA in November. It was 0.12. Still on break til February PSA test. MO said would just keep using Lupron til PSA is .02. Then Zytiga.

Is the chemo you used Docetaxel? Not sure if from your comments above if you meant chemo and Docetaxel.

Then Zytiga. Anyone else have experience with this situation? I’m feeling great. Little sob and painful joints. But I am 72.

Thanks guys.
