I wrote a long time ago about my dads prognosis ... he had a radical prostatectomy in May 2016.. Gleason score of 8 (stage 4)... last year his psa went from almost 0 to 233 (dec 2018) yesterdays psa was 0.71 down from 0.81 last month ... he has multiple mets...in the omentum ... abdomen area .. a rare spot for prostate cancer to move to ...

He has been on eligard every 3 months with zytiga (aberaterone +prednisone) every day since Feb. He does vitamin C injections IV every other week as well eats a very healthy diet as prescribed by his homeopathic doctor. His CT of the abdomen yesterday came back and his Mets have actually shrunk the biggest one was about 2.9 cm it’s now down to 5mm. His bone scan came back clean as well.

I bought him avemar tablets as well which are expensive but have shown to help people with cancer and their pets (mans best friend). He also has a huge faith in God and that has helped him a lot along the way .Everything is looking good for him right now so just wanted to share a message of hope . I don’t know when things will spike upwards but for now he is doing well. He is 66 and very happy at the moment . Good luck to everyone battling for themselves or for their loved ones . My hope is that he will beat this disease. Stay strong and fight this head on. It’s winnable.

Keep up the good fight. You might try to keep up his vitamin D3 level.

Can you expand on the timeline...I got the early history but you then mention dad (starting) zytiga? Was that after a long absence of monitoring his post surgery....I above most can sympathize with one letting the Mets to escalate quickly as I ignored horrible symptoms for years. I was started on zytigaimmediately after my first Eligard shot and it seems to be concertingly beneficial. I’m fascinated at Zytiga’s capricious effects...wonder drug for most but dismal failure in some....this is an important if not eurekian distinction. The same can be said for its competitors.....is there a cocktail solution that might keep us all alive longer hidden in plain sight.I feel it’s a compelling notion we might all consider.

@jbooml ... my Dads psa was down at about 0.02 in late 2017 after 32 sessions of radiation... our oncs decided he was good so not much follow up and no adt at all in 2018... in nov 2018 he had a hernia surgery and in on dec 5, 2018 he had a follow up psa test for the one year review with the oncologist he was on nothing at that point... his psa was up at 188 then 232 in December ... I had him ct’d again and his urologist gave him the firmagon shot on Christmas Day ...

Since that day he’s been on zytiga predinone (feb2019) and eligard shot every 3 months .. he’s at 0.71 psa as of last Monday... no Mets in his bones and his Mets have shrunk considerably in his abdomen as per the technicians... guess it’s working him for now.. he’s very fortunate.. plan now is to monitor his psa level if it keeps going down then less CTs /bone scans in the next few months

That's an impressive recovery. His visceral mets are castrate sensitive from the sounds of things.....which is something to be grateful.

Good son you are. Lovely to see.

Fight on with wit and believe in natures grace.
