Update on carbolatin-etoposide

Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying what’s left of the summer sunshine.

Just a brief update.

My husband whose advanced prostate cancer has now become neuroendocrine has just completed 3 cycles of carbolatin - etoposide for liver mets. He did a Ct scan and we just got the good news that his cancer has shrunk from 18mm down to 8mm. His MO is delighted, as are we. It’s great to get some good news for a change.

Martin has 3 more cycles to go. There are not too many side affects, just some fatigue for a few days after each chemo. Hopefully the liver mets continue to respond. 🙏

He is having a PSMA scan later this week. We will then see if Pluvicto may be an option for him also.

Good luck and best wishes to everyone. N.

WOW. Your post could not have been more timely. I just got the news of this exact situation, and will be starting the carboplatin - etoposide therapy, with Atezolizumab (immunotherapy) sidecar. I will be watching for your posts, and may contact you directly. Praying that this is successful for all who go this route.

Am glad the post helped. We are absolutely delighted with the result. It is much better than we had hoped for as could be seen by the reaction of Martins MO. I hope you and anyone else on the forum going this route have the same good outcome.

Very helpful post. My father just finished two rounds of etoposide + cisplatin. Unfortunately, his potassium had dropped. So we had to stall his chemo. But we're hoping we can get back to the chemo soon. This gives us hope ❤️

Great the post was helpful to you . I hope your dads potassium returns to normal and he can continue his 3rd cycle. We will know more at the 6th cycle. Hopefully there will be more good news. Best wishes to your dad.

Great response! Have you discussed BiTE or CAR-T, or any of the clinical trials?

Thanks T_A. Am happy to hear you think this is a great response also. Martins MO was thrilled.

Thanks for the info on the trials. We will bring these up at our next meeting. We are not really sure where things go from here. We are grateful for advice from anyone who has been through this or anyone with extra knowledge that we sure don’t have. Can Irish people apply to be part of BiTE or CAR-T trials? Thank you.

Irish people can apply, but you would have to stay in the US for the duration.

I don't have any experience with chemo yet. If I had the money I would go to the Cancer center in OC and do their low dose chemo program. Also Dr. Shallenberger in NV has a low dose program. But again the money issue.

So I am starting Taxotere, 75 mg IV on Oct 16 for 6 sessions. But be sure to get supplemental

information re: various products/supplements to minimize the chemo effects. That includes acupuncture.

What type of PET scan did he utilize to find the initial NEC mets? Did he have both the PSMA and FDG PETs? Or, did they use another method to determine his NEC status?

Hi! Hope your husband is doing okay. I wanted to check if we should get NGS or HRR testing done for my father for the next line of treatment.
