PSA jumped to 1.25 from 0.48 in 5 weeks as did my T levels, was 329 now at 421 with a PSA at 1.25. Is this to be expected? I 've been off ADT since 2/18 Last shot - a 3-month shot ) Is there an alternative to lupron with fewer side effects?

Usually--a PSA is done 6 weeks post radiation--but I doubt that the trend is your friend. Talk with your RO and get a referral to Johns Hopkins Radiology because they are doing the Ga68 PSMA scan (closest to NY that I am aware of) and that could tell you where the biochemical recurrence is coming from inside you. Did you have adjuvant radiation? You had an RP as I recall. Once you know where the tumor(s) is, then figuring out a treatment gets easier... and can be used to re-evaluate success post treatment

Best of luck....

The adjuvant radiation is whole pelvic radiation--done with ADT...Did you have that or salvage radiation? The success with adjuvant is higher. I think you mean MSK--Memorial Sloan Kettering. I would get the Ga68PSMA scan--get with an RO and make decisions based on that information. Best of luck...

The first PSA after SRT should be in 3 months because cells are still dying from the radiation, dumping their PSA into your bloodstream.
