Zytiga Reaction.

I had been in Zytiga for 18 months with no issues. Changed to the generic and my legs started to swell requiring lasixs. So I switched back. Now I have hive like symptoms on my buttocks and torso which has blistered and cracked. Any advice? Med Onc did not say anything when discussed on the phone. Miserable.

You are taking prednisone with it, right?

Yes 10 mg

And what are your liver enzymes doing?

Somewhat elevated. But my regular doc said that it could be the high dose of Pred that they had me on to clear up the rash.

Individuals vary. Perhaps you just need more prednisone than most men to compensate for the cortisol that Zytiga takes away. Edema, hypertension and low potassium are symptoms of not taking enough prednisone with Zytiga.

Wow, i have never heard of reactions like that. You are living proof that there is a difference between brand name and generic. You need to give your MO a kick in the butt and wake him up.

Hive like reactions may be an allergic reaction to something....did you add anything else new? Is the Lasix new? If it started on the torso, that is where allergic reactions usually start...you may wish to see what allergy meds could be used with zytiga in the meantime to relieve your misery--possibly help....although, allergic reaction that severe on prednisone 10 mg is unusual...steroids usually blunt/ help allergic reactions and are routinely given in severe cases, but in higher doses,......certainly, seeing your MD and possibly a Dermatologist may be in order...Good luck....

Find immediate relief with these natural home remedies

There are some things you may be able to do to find immediate relief, and, in some cases, treat your rash.

Treatments

Tea tree oil has antibacterial and antifungal effects when applied directly to a rash. You can try it for yeast infections and folliculitis. Purchase tea tree oil online.

German chamomile tea can be ingested or applied as a compress to treat dermatitis. It can significantly reduce itchiness and inflammation, and it can speed up healing.

Any gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer can be applied liberally to itchy, dry skin. Here's a selection of fragrance-free moisturizers to try.

Coconut oil is a great natural moisturizer with antimicrobial (infection fighting) properties. You can apply it directly to your rash. Find coconut oil online.

Oatmeal has natural soothing, moisturizing, and anti-inflammatory properties. Try mixing ground oatmeal into a cool bath, or mix it into a paste and apply it directly to your rash.

Aloe vera can sooth, moisturize, and decrease itchiness. Purchase aloe vera here.

Witch hazel can be applied directly to your rash to sooth irritated skin, speed up healing, reduce itchiness, and even help prevent infection.

Menthol is an essential oil derived from Japanese mint. It has soothing, anti-itch properties. Shop for menthol essential oil.

Honey can help fight infection in open sores.

Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.

I understand that dexamethasone (?) can be substituted for prednisone is necessary. Worth checking with your doc? Could your rash be eczema or allergy and unrelated?

Who was the manufacturer of the generic Zytiga? I had a different response to Mylan pharmaceuticals generic but it was less side effects. Switched back.
