When I was first diagnosed with a virulent (9 on the scale of10) form of prostate cancer, my thoughts of the spreading of this cancer into my body were reinforced by watching my sister slowly die from a form of cancer that invaded her body until nothing was left. I was relieved to find , through several body scans, that the cancer had not metastasized yet. I was put on a regime of lupron every three months . At the end of the first year my PSA had dropped from twenty nine to less than one. Despite that news I was feeding my brains with "what ifs" and my body with lots of food. I had previous experience with obesity (285 lbs) and realized that I was heading that way again. After investigating Keto dieting, I realized that I could lose weight even though it might not have a beneficial action on the cancer cells. It has been a month since starting Keto and the weight loss is sixteen pounds. My outlook on life has improved greatly just by those positive results. I'm due for another lupron the first of march and am actually anticipating positive results there too. As I continue to lose weight, my body is responding with more energy and less aches and pains. I continue look up and see progress and leave behind those things that were detrimental to my mental and physical health.

Overcoming the news
I’m sorry about your sister. It would be more painful to me to see my sister sick than to go through all this crap myself. Best wishes on your next PSA.
You are on a great path. Keep moving forward . Diet is half of everything. My opinion. Take care.
At 5 9/178, I'm 29 lbs over where I wanna be. As a 5 11 powerlifter in college and the Service, I was hittin' on 200 with a much lower BMI.
Never realized how many calories I wolfed down until lately, and have pegged the reason for my fat body as laziness on my part.
What you have done in that short stretch of time is stupendous!
I'll be following you, and will jack. you. up on this public forum if you get lazy like me, lol.
Git Some!
Crabcrusher
I appreciate your interest and hope that I won't suffer any beatings!! I would rather just continue to lose weight on my Keto plan. LOL
You can crush it.. losing weight could extend your life. We all must watch out for heart issues. Try no sugar ,meat, dairy, processed food . I did and went from 6.4 and 233 down to 6. 2 1/2 and 165. That was during RT . I’ve come up to 199. Still I haven’t regained muscle strength or stamina because of castration adt and having 3 testosterone ...for 31/2 yrs now.
I can just imagine myself hauling ass down a dark alley with Crabcrusher and Here's Johnny Lulu700 right behind me. Not a pretty picture. Perfect way to lose weight.
Run forest run . I was third in high school in the mile. Now I’d die instantly if it had to do with a run for my life. That’s exact what we are in . First a sprint then we see how far we can marathon. PS: why would us two persure you down that alley ? I’m all for skipping down that path hand in hand Kum bay ya... I just glad nobody is chaising me . Right now the devil is off my ass . It’s a good day .. peace Monte .
IMHO, diet is central to your health and OS. A great foundation for the addition of conventional and alternative treatments.I use them all (though less conventional thus far).
There are seversl studies that state weight loss and improvedproste cancer prognosis is beneficial. Good for you bravo.
Diagnosed Gleason 9 in 2003. Was triathlete vegetarian. Got psa down to undetectable with radiation and adt with Dr Myers. Still felt sorry for myself. Gained weight and felt lousy. Twi years ago got serious about diet and exercise. Now down to my tri weight of 165 with muscle. Some aches and pains but feel great overall. Love exercising again and will do a tri in June at 74. Thus control intake and exercise. It really helps
🤙🏽
Seems like you got a handle on things!
Dr. Snuffy Myers retired two years ago.
Good on ya!
Greeting 👀higher. Sorry about your sister's passing and in such a terrible way. Right now she's adjusting her wings and learning how to play the harp. God Bless her soul. Now about you... Good you're losing weight and that you're in a better frame of mind. We all have been through the Grinder when we found out that we have Pca. Eventually we decided to fight this disease instead of just howling at the moon. So you've come to the right place for help, information and camaraderie. I hate doing this but here it comes:
Would you be kind enough in a future post (not today and not to me) to tell us your age, where you're located, being treated and your doctor's name(s). All this information is voluntary so you need not respond (if you don't I personally will visit you and force you to eat 16 pounds of ice cream). Thank You.
Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.

Congratulations on your progress and positive attitude.
I was also G9 at Dx (about 2 years ago).
I've added some regular exercise and/or walking - although this winter has been really tough to do much walking.
Diet is a big deal. Changing my eating habits (several times due to treatments and restrictions) has been difficult, but there's lots of things to discover about food characteristics (labels and good vs. bad stuff) and how to cook / bake differently.
Good eating and exercise will help with fatigue and a whole lot of other things mental.
I know I speak for many when I wish you well.
There's a definite and unhealthy correlation between obesity and recurrence of prostate cancer. You are on the right track with you effort to lose weight. I am fighting my own battle to lose some weight after being scolded for a too-high blood sugar reading (also a bad thing for prostate cancer). I stopped by the grocery store to pick up a couple of things. It was like running a gauntlet through the aisles of all the stuff I can't have -- sugary soda, cookies, candy, cupcakes, pastries, ice cream ... you get the idea. The battle is won or lost there -- in the grocery store or at that fast food restaurant. Good luck.
This is just a note of appreciation to all that have responded to my initial post. Looks like I will meet my first 20lb weight loss goal set for March 20. right now I'm down 19. The two years since diagnosis has slipped by rapidly and this 78 year old body is back to gaining more vitality each day. Realizing that I am being successfully treated for the cancer has been a strong influence in my recovery. I also believe my decision to lose weight by removing carbs in my diet and seeing results has been a very positive influence on my well being. Each of your replies have been valuable. Thanks again friends.
