A couple years ago our journey began. I was scared, panicked, and at a complete loss as my husband was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer at age 49. He had 17 bone Mets.
After some amazing input from this community and special advice from Tall Allen, I was able to set my sights on the fight ahead.
We pushed our oncologist for the new Triplet Therapy. We were the first case they tried the therapy on and hopefully they are happy with the results!
2 years later he is still taking Daralutamide (Nubeqa) and Lupron injections.
We had a PSMA pet scan yesterday and he no longer has any visible Mets anywhere!!
We are so very excited and wanted to share a bit of good news and feedback on the triplet thereapy!!
Thank you so very much for all of you that helped us so far!!
I will forever be grateful and will update again once I have more information!!

Great news! My husband was 49 at diagnosis with the same as yours. We are almost 7 years into it and my husband has done well- hopefully giving you even more hope. So happy to hear your good news! Allows for some normal breathing💙
Also- not sure if I've said this before but if you haven't I'd investigate some therapy for the kids. I didn't realize how much the diagnosis, and my worry that I thought I hid well, effected them. They're now 20, 22 and 24. All three started with a therapist since. But not until more recently for 1 of them and I wish I'd just gotten them someone to talk to earlier. We are a super close family but I think they didn't want to worry me with stuff. Our kids are great- but having someone to talk to outside family and friends has been great.
Thank you for the advice, I will definitely look into it. I do know our youngest has been affected. He thinks every time someone catches a cold, it is life threatening.
Poor thing. I wish I'd started mine in therapy sooner- but I didn't realize how internally panicked I was myself. Here's hoping there are many more years of good news!
Lshanks07 … I can’t begin to tell you how encouraging your post is to me. Thank you!
Apart from age (I am 84!), my story and your husband’s story are so similar: Gleason score 9, widespread bone mets, *and* triplet therapy. I had four rounds of docetaxal (ended late last September), and still on 6-month Lupron and Nubeqa. My next blood labs, nuclear body scan, and oncologist visit is late March/early April. After reading about your husbands wonderful success, I am very optimistic. Thanks again for a good start to the day!
My husband also has the BRCA2 gene, I am not sure if that is a contributing factor in these fabulous results.
I know this disease is tricky and things can change for us, but we will celebrate the victory for now!
Please update me once the scans are complete. I will be thinking of you.
Also, I should add that the scans right after his chemo rounds showed lighter uptake, but still visible.
This scan, a year later showed 0 Mets…
I am so happy our story can be encouraging, I know I scoured countless stories here for hope. Everyone on this forum has been very encouraging and lovely to me. I am forever grateful.
