I am on the exact same meds now, infusions with Zometa @ 3 months, the urologist put me on metformin before I met the oncologist. No side effects. Good luck in the twin cities with the onc. , stdcdabci from Alaska
I was being seen by Dr Kwon at Mayo Clinic in Rochester and he sent me to Dr Vladimir Hugec at Minnesota Oncology in Maplewood. I think he is a very good oncologist and is connected with Mayo Clinic so has the benefits of the research and knowledge base there.
I have just started seeing Dr. Charles Ryan at the U, formerly of UCSF. You can google him and see some of the You Tube videos that he has done in the past. I like him a lot, but he doesn't have a lot of hours in the clinic because he is the head of Oncology and Hemotology at the U of M Med School. We are lucky to have access to great resources here.
I'm in that area. I go to Hubert Humphrey cancer center at North Memorial in robbinsdale. My first oncologist there left for another job. I asked him if i drove him nuts but he said no. My new one is Rob Schneidewend. Younger guy but easy to talk to. Nurse practioner is good too. Wait times aren't bad compared to some i have heard about.
I second Dr. Charles Ryan or I’d drive to Mayo for Dr. Kwon. We saw Dr. Jha at U of M as well but he is standard of care.
I'm on the exact same treatments, but trying to add metformin. Currently received my second Zometa infusion, have not noticed any side effects. But with ADT, went from Eligard, 6 months, to Lupron 3 months, a bit of a let down, weight gain, frequent hot flashes and mental acuity issues. Of course, we're all different in our reaction to meds...
Although, have improved overall SE lately, since only taking Prednisone 5mg in the morning, this has made a big difference in my case.
