I see Dr John French @ Wellstar. He and his PA are great. French also did his Fellowship at MD Anderson and knows those folks well. I have made a trip to Houston and see Dr Ana Aparicio there.
I wanted a second opinion a few months back. I also am a WellStar patient. I set an appointment with Dr. Omer Kucuk at the Emory’s Winship Cancer Center. He does a lot of prostrate cancer. The only issue I had was pulling records/scans, etc. together prior to the appointment. I felt much better about my treatment plan after this visit and have a solid “backup” should I feel a need to switch providers in the future.
I see Dr. Assikis at Piedmont. Hard to find a more compassionate or skilled physician than Dr. Assikis. Great bedside manner and never in a hurry. He previously led prostate cancer treatment/research at Emory before transitioning to Piedmont. Great guy.
Dr Mehmet Bilen--Winship Cancer Center at Emory.
My daughter is on Faculty at Emory. When I was searching for an oncologist several years ago his name came up. He trained at MD Anderson and has specialization in prostate cancer.
I use Dr Jamie Goldman there.
great profile Thank you for suggestions. providers.emoryhealthcare.o...
We are going to City of Hope in Atlanta (this week) to get a second response/review, etc. We continue to feel confident in our treatment plan at Urology Centers of Alabama, and especially when I read all the SOC stories on here, I feel reassured we are doing what is best. But it will be good to hear that from another medical team and get is in for clinical trials down the road.
Atlanta and surrounding = Atlanta Metro = great medical everywhere....
Due to covid I had many and all were great. I made final decision based upon office staff. While not a great way to select a provider, for me being deathly afraid of the medical profession since a child, it's very important to be treated with extra care.
I had great experiences with all and with a variety of providers each:
GAU = Georgia Urology
ACC = Atlanta Cancer Care
NGOC = North Georgia Oncology Center - WellStar (now)
Good luck in your search! Here's hoping it goes easily and that you respond well to your treatments! Godspeed!
It depends if the doctor is not Southern born and is either a "Yankee" or a "Damn Yankee?"
A Yankee visits....... A Damn Yankee stays..
Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.

Dr Goldman with Winship / Emory University Hospital. She works at the St Joseph’s Hospital.
She has been great, and is up to date on trials, SOC, etc…
