Recurrent prostate cancer with ECE

I'm yeatz (new member).

I have recurrence of cancer after EBRT and ADT. Cancer has gone outside the

capsule but no metastesis. Am told that cryotherapy and brachytherapy are

best bets for curative treatment (I hate, hate, hate ADT!)

Docs so far say either cryo or brachy is too dangerous because of ECE.

Any advice?

Also, how could I find the best cryo or brachy docs in USA who might be

experienced enough to try one of these?

I think the numbers look better and expected side effects are less for salvage brachy than for cryo. Salvage SBRT is in clinical trials (free at NIH):

Tall_Allen - Unfortunately, docs tell me that

SBRT would be too dangerous in view of large dose of radiation

I've already absorbed (75.6 Gy), plus danger of spreading PC because of

ECE. Thank you for taking time to respond, though!

Dr Dattoli does brachy to difficult areas . Very experienced, only treats PCa. He’s in Sarasota FL.

ECE - "Extracapsular Axillary Nodal Extension" for those keeping score. I view cryo as a very unfocused, non-precision treatment that I would not sign up for. I don't know if HIFU might be in play or not, with the ECE.

You sure it’s not extra capsular extension which is the same as EPE or extraprostatic extension which means the tumor has protruded outside the capsule? ? That’s what I had.

Yes, ECE did stand for extra-capsular extension; went outside the prostate

gland. I'll use EPE from now on.
