It has been a while since I posted, but I check this site almost daily. Thanks to all who contribute with their experiences, questions, answers, fears, treatment, studies, etc. I even enjoy the debates on diet, supplements, vapors, oils and incantations. Keep it positive, that is one of the things that keeps me coming back.
I began the DYNAMO trial at MD Anderson in January 2018. I had been taking Lupron and the trial added Zytiga, prednisone, and apalutamide. On March 22, I began the leg of the trial that added chemo (cabazitaxel and carboplatin.) every 3 weeks. I finished my tenth and final treatment at the end of September. I tolerated the treatments well and successfully managed the side effects. My scans have shown a reduction in size of the prostate and the affected lymph nodes, and no new mets. During the treatment, my PSA decreased to 0.1, but did increase to 0.5. My last two results were 0.5. The engineer in me wants to see more data before I am satisfied that it has stabilized. I am also looking forward to getting my energy back..
I will remain on the Lupron, Zytiga, predinisone, and apalutamide until it stops working.. I am hopeful this will be a long time.
I am very thankful for the great care I receive at MD Anderson.
So, this is the new normal for my family and me. This phase will take some getting used to, but I am motivated by those on this site to do my best to live life to its fullest.
Thanks for the discussions..
