My husbands oncologist wants my husband to get back on Lupron. DH’s testosterone is 1.2. Is there any benefit to Lupron when your testosterone is already so low? Right now he is on olaparib and scheduled to begin Keytruda in six weeks.

Testosterone and Lupron
What are the units - nmol/l or ng/dl? If nmol/l ( which I think it is), it is 35 ng/dl which is not so low.
I just checked...nmol/l.
I had no idea there was a difference. Thank you for your response. I intend to read more about this. I did read that testosterone should be < 50 ng/dL.
50 ng/ml is a minimum for castration. Most doctors would like to see it below 20 ng/ml.
I'm not aware of data to support this but it seems to me that even lower is better. But I don't know if a tiny amount of T is needed by the body.
Did your Dr say anything about early olaparib plus keytruda clinical trial results? I've been wondering if this might be a good next step plan for my husband. I hope the olaparib is still working well.
Yes there isJoel
what i would do is this. have has doc check his testosterone and see what his level is. mine was a 3 for about 8 months then we checked it and it was up. docs don't always check the level and i would. remember males has it from 300-600 if ones level is 3 then i personality wouldn't do it. i found the shot painful and with the low number felt it not necessary to continue for ever. remember it reduces ones bone mass, makes u tired and weak
Also on Lupron and I lift 3 days a week and cardio 3 I have fatigue and weakness with hot flashes with weight gain. I’m concerned about testicular atrophy. Use it or loose it. I’m going on a Lupron vacation after 7 mos of undetectable and hope things come back.
