Xtandi and PSA flare?

Have any of you experienced a PSA flare on Xtandi? We got my dad‘s PSA results back and he went from a 3.5 to 10. He was switched from Zytiga to Xtandi 4 weeks ago.

So his PSA jumped from 3.5 to 10 in 4wks during the transition from Zytiga to Xtandi!

He is not having any pain just quite a bit more fatigued since the switch to Xtandi. He was on Zytiga for 7 months before his PSA started rising. This was not the news that we wanted to hear but I’m hoping it will start coming down by the next PSA test in 4wks.

With some drugs or treatments the patient can get what I call the PSA bounce. If the treatment works well the dying cancer cells can produce PSA and you will get a higher reading. This happened to me to me one of drugs I prescribed. Keep taking the drug you may find that a second reading will go down.

i was dx with prostrate cancer and now its been 10 yrs treating it. been thru alot of meds, my zytiga was starting to slow it down not bringing it to the earliest finding so i just signed up and started a new experimental treatment thats been around since 2006 called provenge treatment check with your doctor or oncologist. if ones psa is below 31 they say 10 years or higher extended maybe three are still other meds out there u haven't tryed. once my provenge treatment is finish i will go back to zyitga again
