Hi, i know that this has been brought up many times. My father is on Xtandi and he was told to stop taking tumeric because it decreases the effectiveness for the Xtandi.. he also was told to stop green tea. We recently decreased his Xtandi dose to 3 pills instead of 4 because he was having unusual chest pain and depression from the full dose. After a month of the lower dose his PSA went up
From 4.1 to 6.44. His 1st month on extant i didn’t show a significant drop but his PSA also didn’t increase. So i am sure taking 3 instead of 4 is not effective. At the time after the 1st month he was also on green tea and tumeric.. does anyone know more about how bad it is to take them while on Xtandi? I feel my father was doing better when he was on supplements.

Hmm, did not know this. Been on Xtandi 4 years this coming Feb. 3 of this years on 3 pills due to fatigue. Also been taking zyflamend and Pomi-t for a good portion of this time. Both of which contain turmeric. And the pomi-t also contains green tea. PSA has been stable between 0.03 and 0.05. Currently 0.04. I’ll be following this thread.
That is great to know, my fathers oncologist told him to discontinue both, i really feel that it helped to keep PSA down. I will let you know what happens! Thank you so much for all your input!
Hello. I'm a 71 year old guy w stage four prostate cancer plus bone metastasis to multiple sites. My gleason scores were moderate, not high, somewhere in a six to seven range is I recall. I have been on Xtandi/enzalutamide for a year and five months. Upon starting Xtandi my PSA quickly dropped to a lab result of 0.91. PSA labs have stayed there up to now. I felt I was having some side effects of the four capsule Xtandi dosing, so my concologist said we would try three capsules and watch to see what would happen with my PSA. My next labs after this dose change, my PSA remained low/stable. I have been taking curcumin plus fisetin for quite a while now. My oncologist so far has not recommended I stop the two supplements, nor has she told me to return to the four capsule dosing on Xtandi. The problem with generalizing from one cancer patient to another is that each person's cancer tends to have unique genetic, metabolic and other characteristics (which typically are not yet very well understood), and also, the course of the cancer life cycle for each person tends to be quite different in any number of ways. See if his doc will agree to reinstate the supplements while doing the lab check on his PSA. A PSA of 4 to 6 i not outlandishly high, by the way. When I first got diagnosed my PSA was 140. Best wishes, Daniel
I also take Xtandi and turmeric. I am very interested in hearing what the community says on this but Dr. Myers already said to not take tumeric so it doesn't look good. I might have to stop the turmeric. Darn it.
