My brother did experimental immunotherapy for his lung cancer. The results seemed to show some reduction around the edge of the tumor, but very little change to the interior. I'm going off what he explained to me, without personally seeing results. I think there is a lot of positives with this treatment based on some research, just not sure if its being implemented correctly.

This is a Re-post.

Lung melanoma (immunotherapy at MSKcc)

Treatment with KEYTRUDA began 02/07/2017 (every 3 weeks @ $30K per treatment)

** After 2 treatments **

Lungs: Decreased lower lobe metastasis:

Now 1.2 x 1.0 cm. previously 2.4 x 2.2 cm.

Pleura/pericardium: Resolved small left pleural effusion.

** After 5 more treatments **

Lungs: Decreased left lower lobe metastasis:

Measuring now 0.6 x 0.6 cm. previously 1.2 x 1.0 cm.

No new suspicious lung nodules.

Pleura/pericardium: No effusion.

** After 5 more treatments **

Dr. said that my recent C.T. scan showed that the nodule on my left lung stayed the same size and that was a good sign.

** After 3 more treatments **

LUNGS/AIRWAYS: Further decreased residual ill-defined left lower lobe metastasis, barely perceptible. No new suspicious nodules.

Last Treatment 01/10/2018

Note: Schedule for a CT Scan on 04/24/2018 and a consultation with Dr. on Tuesday, 05/01/2018.

(PET scan two days ago, awaiting results).

No side effects from treatments.

Hope this can help your brother.

Good Luck and Good Health.

For other reasons my scheduled CT scan was changed to a PET scan. It went very well. Doctor said no more treatments for now but to monitor me periodically.

I hope the treatments for your brother work as well as mine. My treatments were every 3 weeks and with absolutely NO side effects. Keep the faith and keep in touch.

Good Luck and Good Health.

I went on lupron and zytiga at the same time, approx 2-3 years ago. New spots appeared on my rib cage and in pelvic area in 2017. Started provenge and after first infusion had radiation on the spots in ribs and pelvic area in Nov. 2017. Finished up infusions with Provenge and had bone scan and auximin scan in 2018. No new matastesis from earlier scans . I am in a wait and see mode to see if provenge is working. I visit oncologist every three months and will have new scans in 2019.

Our oncologist says there isn't any breakthroughs with treatment of Prostate cancer through immunotherapy. It may help with some other cancers.
