Following the two weeks of treatment with antibiotics, I thought it would be a good idea to give my husband probiotics for a while now. Do you think this is a good idea or would it be better to stick to his regular medications at the moment and not to introduce anything new to the system?

Probiotics are quite unlikely to hurt your husband - or you. They are especially helpful after a round of antibiotics. Probiotics benefit most people.
I've never read that probiotics interfere with any medication. A healthy gut is more likely to absorb nutrients and keep bad stuff out. A healthy gut is also unlikely to develop candida (yeast) overgrowth, a common side effect of antibiotics and too much sugar in the diet.
My doctors advise me to switch brands - I buy a bottle of a good brand, take it until it is gone, then go to another good brand. Over the years I've settled on a cycle of 4 or 5 brands.
Fermented foods are another good way to get probiotics. I can buy organic sauerkraut in the grocery store, fermented locally, still bubbling in the package.
If it is "live" yogurt it can help. If it has been pasteurized there's no live bugs.
For many people with a seriously inflamed gut (leaky gut syndrome) the bugs in yogurt aren't strong enough to outcompete the nasty species in the gut. That's why it's a good idea to try different probiotics and keep switching things. You'll notice a difference once the gut heals, but it takes a while. It took me a full year, and I still struggle with it from time to time.
