PC treatments and liver cancer

Hello ALL ... an interesting point of observation after reading through some of the posts.

I have been through the Zitiga, Xtandi and then Jevtana Chemo and i now have metastatic PC on my liver. The interesting point is others have reported similar situations after coming off these drugs. Oh yes my PSA sky rocketed also.

Has anyone got confirmation about the PC to the liver caused by these drugs?

Why do you think it was caused by the drugs, rather than delayed by the drugs? Be sure to ask your oncologist about radioembolization of liver tumors.

I just thought it was interesting that others who went through the same treatment ended up with cancer on the liver.

Made me curious if one of the treatment opened the door for the spread of cancer to the liver

It's pretty safe to say they occurred in spite of the drugs rather than because of them. I haven't seen any association between Jevtana, 2nd line hormone therapy and progression to liver

The poster of the post right above yours has "mets" to the liver and has just reported success with Carboplatin chemotherapy. It's commonly used for that purpose and NEPC.

These drugs do not cause PC to the Liver. PC spreads to many organs, primarily, bones, lymphs, liver and lungs (other places, too). I have had the usual treatments over 6 years and completed chemo (docetaxel and carboplatin) in December, with last (8th) treatment finally reversing and starting to rise. Had genome analyses performed, and have the usual genomic defects which do not have cures (P1K3CA, PTEN, TMPRSS2, APC & TP53). Did do one trial fro P1K3A, and it nearly killed my liver. Had one large liver tumor removed (5 cm) with Microwave liver ablation, too many remaining liver tumors to comtemplate additional surgery. Waiting now for the need to start Hospice.

did you try apalutamide

Apalutimide was FDA approved only for non-metastasic patients in Feb 2018. It delays the progression to distant metastasis. Therefore it would not benefit me. I was metastasic since first being diagnosed six years ago. Why would you recommend a drug, my physician can not prescribe for me? My Oncologist could even lose their license for prescribing a drug not approved for this application. I suppose I could start the lengthy process with the FDA for use of an unapproved usage, but I see no studies, saying it is effective for patients who already have metastases throughout their body. Enzalutimide worked very well for me for 32 months, delaying the spread, until it finally was overcome by mutations to my cancer genomics. Also tried abiraterone, but only effective (lowered PSA) for six weeks.
