The last 2 days I have no bowel movement. This morning I had to take 2 small yellow lax tab and I can move by bowel.
I normally does not constipate. I remembered after my cystoscopy on 27/10/17 ( right ureteric stent implanted) I had constipation on day 2 and day 6 hence got relief when using lax tab.
If my memory served me correctly I did had a 7 day no bowel movement back in May 2017. Like I said I eat heaps so this is really unusual. At that time I did not use any laxatives and after much struggle I started with great effort got my bowel moving again.
Now that I developed Stage 4 PCa I just wonder.

The reality is that they don’t know what causes it. Hopefully some day they will know so that others don’t have to deal with it. But I cannot imagine that constipation could contribute to it
Don’t worry yourself about why you got it - just focus on dealing with it.
Feel free to ask any questions that might help you on your PCa journey - there are a lot of friends here who can help.
I have a friend with PCa stage 1 who had a swollen prostate that was so large he could not pass his bowel. I use a daily fiber product (clear in water) to keep everything moving. I also drink plenty of water. Mira-lax is a good product when you are constipated or use glycerine suppositories (available by Fleets in pharmacy). Senna tablets can become habit forming if used daily, and they can damage your bowel over time.
Hello Roland, When my husband told me he hadn’t had a bowel movement in a week, we dithered about which doctor to see. I looked up several and decided on a local urologist which was a fortuitous choice.
Turned out the blocked colon wasn’t the cause of prostate cancer, but it did reveal it. There has been no problem with constipation for the last year and a half since he began Lupron and now Vantas. Everything got smaller. People on this site know what that means. First and foremost, the prostate gland began shrinking away from the colon. I hope yours does the same. Your experience seems to be the same as my husband’s. I predict you won’t need to take laxatives for long. But as another person on this site says, “What do I know”.
Senna Tea can be helpful if you are constipated. ..also chlorella powder added to your morning smoothie will get things moving. I am sure you know all about probiotics.. but just in case.. the best source of probiotics is homemade milk kefir... really easy to make.. If you are not drinking milk then you can try water kefir but it does not have the variety or number of probiotic strains. Water kefir helps but it is not as amazing as milk kefir. My husband has done both.. but now he has a good probiotic supplement so he is usually ok.
If you are taking antibiotics you probably need to repopulate your colon.. Other foods that have probiotics are the fermented foods.
Don't overdo the senna tea.. it is very effective and too much will make you crampy and give you diarrhea.(It takes 8-12 hours to work for most folks)
Constipation isn't a likely cause of PC. I struggled with constipation for years and I believe that a bad episode is responsible for giving me a hernia. I take prune juice every day, breakfast and dinner -- just 4 oz each meal, and that does the trick for me. Pills were unreliable relief. I wonder why it took me so long to figure out this cure.
