Saw a newly diagnosed man's PSA go from 400+ to .61.

I recently met a newly-diagnosed man in a nearby Prostate Cancer Support Group. Already metastatic to many bones, and with pelvic area bone pains. He took Casodex to prevent a "flare" and started Lupron. Also had one Zometa infusion. Then, per the CHAARTED trial results (favoring earlier rather than later chemo), just had his 1st round of docetaxel.

His PSA went from 400+ to 12 to .61. An excellent response, so far, to start his journey.

A couple of months ago he was very anxious and afraid and working on coming to terms with his new diagnosis. This initial treatment response has given him some Gratitude and Hope, in addition.

Really pray it works.

At what age one is diagnosed with advanced metastatic cancer too is an important factor. This is the best treatment regimen for him at this stage and he should be happy about the positive response. Proper food, vitamins/supplements and regular exercises will definitely enhance the effectiveness of any PCa treatments.

Wish him all the luck

Charles, I can attest to that significant decrease of PSA. My PSA was measured at 415 in Jan 2017. On March 16th, started Casodex 50 mg. Had blood works just 7 days after taking my first casodex and my PSA dropped to 210. After my first chemo and first Lupron shot, it went down to 6.5. Had my second chemo on April 11th and I am hoping to have the same result similar to the man that you met. I eat plenty of fruits- especially strawberries, vegetables, fish and grilled chicken- no red meat and drink 2 cups of green tea per day as my anti oxidants. I haven't tried any supplements yet but will strongly considering once I am off 6 rounds of chemo, hopefully on July 13th. Prayers to you always- Nick from New Jersey

I am in a similar position. Diagnosed Nov 2013. PSA 620. Widespread metastases, ribs, vertebral coulumn, pelvis, skull, top of right femur. Luckily for me, virtually no pain. Started on Casodsex when PSA plummeted to 5.00. Then Zoladex injections every three months and started Abiraterone in Feb 2014. PSA dropped to 0.10. Had Radium 223 last year. PSA rose very slowly and latest PSA is 10.50 with a 35 month doubling rate. The doubling rate seems to fluctuate wildly, lowest so far has been 3 months, but an average of 10/11 months. Lots, lots, lots of exercise!. Diet similar to Nicnatno plus supplements. Bottom line keep a positive attitude and keep fighting. Listen carefully to your oncology team, but also follow informed and accredited articles. This is an excellent site. Avoid quacks with miracle cures such as a baking soda diet!

I was diagnosed with a PSA of 600+, Gleason 7, 7 mets skull, shoulder, ribs x 2, large mass in pelvis, and both femurs.

Took Casobec, and within 4 weeks my PSA dropped to immeasurable. I'm on Aberaterone plus Zoladex, and after 5.5 years, my PSA 6 weeks ago was less than 0.1.

That's what I call a response, and a I'm a very happy man!

Did the casodex stop working for you? How long were on it?

Misspelling... Casodex!

With just Casodex, you went from a PSA of 600 to immeasurable in four weeks. I have never hear of someone just on Casodex having such a response.

I think the above is one for the medical record books. You are truly blessed in receiving such a response.
