I'm on Vyvanse 20 mg and it is okay! However, I'm struggling with exhaustion, low motivation, mental stress, and low ability to express my thoughts, some degree of apathy and low motivation.
I'm reading about L- Thionine and it seems beneficial. Anyone here tried it and can share their experience?
Kind regards

Adding to the above post: I have also low ability to read people emotions and even when I know it I dont know what to do for them to help them and sooth them and all what I say is meaningless"sorry for you" even when they complain from my behaviors or that Im hurting them" I understand them and feel for them but dont know what to do at that situation and it took me very long time to realize what I have done and then it is too late to do anything or Im just adding insult to injury.
So L-Thionine again: any experience that can be shared here?
Thanks for contacting CHADD National Resource Center on ADHD. Before taking any supplements, it's a good idea to talk to your doctor. Many products out there claim to work wonders, but they might not be effective. If you're thinking about trying alternative treatments to improve your daily life, here’s some helpful information to consider. chadd.org/about-adhd/comple...
Thank you so very much for the links. I definitly will talk to my health care provider about it. I just wanted to see if anyone have experienced this supplement. Currently I take only the stimulant and Vit. D and eat healthy with Protein as a main nutrient in my diet.
yea, this gets dicey because CHAD is obligated to state” speak with a healthcare professional” disclaimer…. and western medicine is not trained in natural healing…
so its one of those areas that we all fall into the crack …..and the only answer is to do your own research.
in general- there is no one magic supplement for lifes challenges- its a whole lifestyle change that makes us feel whole and happy with whatever we have to work with❤️
I hear you! However, I usually tell my health care provider and ask them. Usually, they dont say much unless there is an interaction with the medication Im taking currently.
I totally agree with you that there is no magic pill or supplement that will do the work for us. It is a whole life change and we have to adapt to it or make it as easy and pleasent to us and to everyone in our circle.
im a big fan of the concept that inflammation in our physical bodies creates alot of physical and mental problems.
therfore, when in doubt- find your preferred method to fush n detox your body. it wont cure the world, or everyday problems of course….but absolutely no one on earth struggled more in life due to being too healthy n clean! lol
L-theanine is a precursor amino acid to dopamine and other neurotransmitters.I think I tried supplementing with it before, and it didn't seem to make any difference for me.
I later tried l-tyrosine (which the body makes l-dopa from, and then it makes dopamine from l-dopa). I still didn't notice any difference.
Then, I supplemented with l-dopa, and I did experience some slight (but noticeable) improvement with mood, motivation, and mental energy.
It still didn't help enough. I asked my doctor to switch me from Strattera (a norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor) to Wellbutrin (a norepinephrine and dopamine reuptake inhibitor), and I had definite improvement.
I still was a bit lacking in energy, so I did more researching into supplements...and I found out that Vitamin B-6 is also required by the body to make dopamine. Deficiencies of other B-vitamins can also cause poor mental performance.
So, several months ago, I started taking a B-vitamin complex, and I found it even more helpful than any of the amino acid supplements that I had tried. (If seems to work best with the l-dopa supplement, but I ran out of that a few weeks ago and haven't ordered more yet.)
I wish I had done it as a real experiment and kept a log of my experience on each of the supplements.
I've tried various supplements over the years, to try to help my brain work better. Before my ADHD diagnosis, I was taking the following combination (which was less than 10% as effective as Adderall, and Strattera was twice as effective for me than Adderall was):
• A multivitamin
• Omega-3s
• Vitamin C
• Vitamin D
• Ginseng
• Ginkgo Biloba
(Plus a pot of strong coffee every day.)
It took me years to come up with that combination, and still ADHD meds are far greater in effect (and helped me cut down to 1/2 pot of coffee per day, or less).
Hi Notebook24,
I have been on 30mg of Elvanse and decided to stop over the Christmas period and actually have been taking ashwagandha and lion's mane combined and I feel good for the last couple of weeks . I’m not sure the adhd meds methylphenidate and Elvanse have helped me that much if honest so maybe not for me plus my sleep was even worse than usual . Maybe see if I can try the non stim ones I’m not sure . Good luck and I hope you find something that works for you 😊
