struggling with medical school

i'm taking the MLA in June and I literally don't know how to organise myself with studying and going to placement and doing basic life tasks like feeding myself and doing laundry. There's literally not enough time in the day and I'm so burnt out and I still don't know how to study for my exams. It takes about 1hr30-2hrs to get to placement so I waste 3-4hrs a day travelling but cant study in this time because I have motion sickness. I am on vyvanse but i'm still struggling with motivation and just freeze all day. The meds felt like they helped more in my pre-clinical years but now I feel like the time I would be productive for studying is wasted during placement and I just get home and crash. Any study tips or just organising life in med school tips would be really appreciated.

Have you talked with your doctor about medication for motion sickness?

You can call and leave a message for your doctor. If you have a patient portal. You can send a message that way. Explain the situation and that you do not have the time to come in due to the driving and other things. He knows what medical school is like

Unfortunately my GP doesn't work like that and the only way to get an appointment is to call at 8am and hope someone picks up which i haven't been lucky with

I'm travelling. Car overheating. But I have comments. More later.

1. Study buddy. Body double.

2. Chunk the work.

3. Pomodoro. Work really hard, and rest.

The basics. Ful on exercise every day. Diet. Hydration. Ditch social media. Sleep.

How much do you want this?

Do you have clarity?

Regards

Thank you for the advice!! I was thinking of incorporating more consistent exercise because i think not burning my energy has internalised into feelings of anxiety that's burnt me out. Pomodoro hasnt worked for me really but body doubling has so i will look for people to study with. I don't tend to be on my phone much as there's too much going on on social media that it overwhelms me. I really want this a lot which is why is stresses me out and i just want to work out of i'm doing things the right way. You've been really helpful.

My favorite writer on this is Cal Newport. Adjust the ideas for ND.

listen to podcasts or audiobooks on the matter during the travel. Schedule out your time. Study while the laundry is in the wash/dryer. Use those chores for your study breaks if need be. It’s ok if the house is a bit downhill, but don’t let it go to let your mental health spiral. Don’t push your studies too hard. Small spurts is good, and can be better for your brain to retain the information. There’s study guides online I’m sure, and you can talk to people who have taken it and though you can’t ask specific questions, you can ask what topics they suggest you study more thoroughly. There may even be practice tests online. Learning liaisons seems to have a lot of tests in their program.

Thank you for tips. I will try out listening to podcasts during my commute! Organising my breaks to get chores done is a good idea i didn't think of that. I know small spurts have always worked better for me I just needed the reminder that that's ok because it never feels like enough. Practice tests have been recommended to me by older students so I will definitely try that one out! I really appreciate it!
