I am two months passed diagnoses of combined adhd. At first I didn't want to go on medication but changed my mind. I have the letter come through from the psychiatrist to my GP with a medicine suggestion for me to try. It is methlphenidate. Has any one had experience with this medication.
Thank you

Thank you for contacting CHADD National Resource Center on ADHD. When it comes to medication, you have different options, but it’s important to understand how each one works and what side effects they might have. Here are three resources that can be helpful. chadd.org/for-adults/medica...
Ritalin/methilphenidate was the go to in the 80’s but the kids were given too high of doses back them, which made them zombies. I tried methilphenidate and dexmethilphenidate and they exacerbated my anxiety. I am now an a nonstimulant called stratera. It seems to work better for me, and has less chances of addiction. Vyvanse is what worked for my partner (stimulant), but he learned on his gene sight test methilphenidate and dexmethilphenidate both would have moderate adverse side effects (made him angry and hulk out).
