I have been diagnosed with ADHD for two years now. I have been on methylphenidate in different forms, Concerta, and Ritalin. Currently, I am on a 60mg dose of Ritalin (IR).
I started therapy, more specifically Mindfulness-Integrated CBT, 3 months ago. After reading about it, I felt like it could help me. I was the one who searched and found a therapist trained in CBT. I like his methods and I can even see how they can help me in the long run. But as it has been the case for me always, I often procrastinate on the therapy exercises I need to do. A task that was supposed to be completed within 14 days takes an entire month. sometimes I keep putting off the exercise until it gets too late and I don't do it anymore.
I keep feeling maybe I don't want to get better, maybe it was me that was the problem all along.
Has anyone else had the same problem, with procrastination even for therapy?

I would say procrastination especially for therapy. Trying to change the way we think at its most fundamental level is not easy and often unpleasant. Our thought processes have been built up over time because they felt protective and logical at the time, threatening the status quo can be frightening, change is hard. All our personal and ADHD traits will come to the fore to protect our current self, procrastination is just another tool we use consciously or unconsciously to protect ourselves from something we feel may challenge us beyond our ability.
I would say ask yourself, why are you having difficulty making your therapy exercises a priority in your life? My therapist has worked with me to build up my self worth and internal value and when you make yourself and your mental health a priority, it can be easier to make the time to do the work. Also for me, schedule a time to do the things that need to be done. If I don't schedule a time to do something, then there's a low chance of it getting done. Good luck and keep trying. You deserve to feel good about yourself.
Thank you for your response. It really makes sense to me now because therapy wasn't a priority until now, and has always been another thing I'm doing for my ADHD. I will try to schedule a time for it in my day and see what happens.
