Hi All,

Really interested in how your Dr’s have been with your ADHD journey .

I was referred to Psychiatry Uk via the right to choose scheme through a Dr who isn’t my regular Dr She was was supportive and unfortunately was only doing a short stint at my surgery ! My main Dr is Anti NHS shared care and has no sympathy or isn’t supportive what so ever !! Through the whole shortage of the meds situation he didn’t call me to make me aware when I did get through to him his responce in not so many words was it’s not my problem and then referred to the miss informed BBC panorama programme regarding ADHD and basically said he doesn’t believe everyone diagnosed with ADHD has it !! I was so upset and Angered I have requested I don’t have him as my Dr.

I’m so sorry to hear this. I actually think you should make a formal complaint. He’s questioning another Drs diagnosis for a start. With regards to not being told re the meds, I never get told about any medication being out or unavailable by my Dr, I don’t think it’s something they can keep track of and some local pharmacies have them some don’t. I live in a city though we’re there a lots of pharmacies to try. I haven’t been handed over from Psychiatry Uk yet. I really hope I don’t have the same experience as you! Good luck with your next Dr. Hopefully they’re more educated!

sadly my experience with pyschiatry Uk was not the best . They made a lot of promises to me about getting funding for therapy (adhd ) etc but never happened as they said rules had changed and passed me back to the Drs . They tried me on various stimulants , and when they didn’t work , they basically said goodbye .

I’ve been left in a mess by my Drs and my pysch Uk, a pretty dangerous mess to add . With changes in anti depressants and some major sad life transitions , and that was it .
