just opened a bakery and boy am I learning a whole lot about myself in such a short amount of time. Anything helps, thanks and much appreciated

Bakery business sounds incredible

I've ran a business for 8 years now

I'll bullet point!

Meditation to clear the mind and then Mindset - I'm at work now, I'm going to do a good job etc etc etc, I have a other mindset triggers for other things, clear the mind ok I'm now here to be the best father I can be etc,

Organisational tools are worth the money

I use digital project management tools but I guess you will need diffent stuff

Always work to excellence never anything less - this keeps me coming back because no matter how hard the day is I know I will do a very good job

This is contreversel and take it or leave it

- I believe in self love and meditate regularly, however some days just needs some good old fashion respectfull tough love to get you through the day aka get a fkn grip and do the work!! I will tell my self, I have to do this because if I let the ADHD have its way I won't provide.

I like the pearl theory in 'the Tools'

We put each pearl on a thread, we think its perfect but inside every pearl is a turd,

It means that the next step in the business will have chalanges every single time and wanting it to be perfect can be one a proplem of not starting or dissapointmemt. But do it anyway with realistic expectations.

Always have a marketing plan even if it's on a toilet roll!

Make big plans

Work on your identity so you can actually pull the plan off. Aka read a load (I do audio books)

Put a detailed time based plan together so what you say you will do. Actually gets done

And for all business owners ADHD or not, exercise is the real key to it all working long term.

Visualisation. I do this in the morning when I wake up. I see myself going through the day and doing it well. I then get out of bed as if I've rehearsed the day and it really works this one

I've learned an insane amount running a business. And I love it!

Another one I learned is try to be present, that's where the joy is, the alternative is worrying about the future, based on our past which ultimately doesn't exist, this is important because cashflow is the only thing that has had me in tears over the years untill I learned to be present and truly enjoy the journey

Hire help in the places you have weakness - and let them do their job. Bookkeeping, accountant, office manager. You can hire a virtual assistant for a very reasonable amount. I’ve been an entrepreneur for decades and the secret sauce really is building a team.

I also don’t know if you’ve already rented a location? I might sit down with someone (a neurotypical someone) and calculate if it’s better to start without a storefront. I have a number of friends who sell their goods at farmers markets or through Whole Foods - saves on taxes and insurance while you build market share and your team. Also, as a person with a disability, you might be able to access small business support and grants from your state.

My business is in the earliest phases of planning and financial projections and I am struggling for sure. I always performed well in structured settings, like school or past managerial/leadership roles, which is part of the reason I went undiagnosed for so long. Now that I'm trying to build something from scratch and I'm accountable to no one but myself - plus trying to work enough to maintain income until this business exists and generates revenue - my mind is being stretched to its limits.

I've tried a thousand different ways to structure my to do list, calendar, and thoughts, and so far have not found the magic elixir. But I have made at least a little progress and so far what's helped the most is involving other people in small ways and getting some financial investment sunk into it. Now I have some folks expecting me to perform and keep making progress of some kind plus a little skin in the game that I need to protect.

I've been thinking about an accountability buddy of some kind because that's really helped me with other endeavors in the past, like completing an 8-week MBSR course and a 30-day yoga challenge. I didn't actually spend time with the people doing the course or exercises, just recurring check-ins by phone or message to say how things were going and offer encouragement. No pressure, but if you'd be interested in something like that, please drop me a line and we can chat further!
