My brother has just got diagnosed with combined type and my sister has adhd too. Her daughter has adhd too and possible asd. I am going to be assesed to for adhd. Our other sibling is looking onto it too. We all middle aged and have spend our whole lives not knowing we were neurodivergent.
Has anyone else comes from a family with siblings with adhd.

I have two brothers (one biological, one adopted...but it was a within-family adoption). Neither of them has ADHD.
My dad seems to have exhibited mild ADHD traits throughout his life, especially in his youth. He's in his 70s now, and his impulsivity seems to have quieted down a lot.
I have four kids (one step-child, 3 biological children), and they all seem to have mild-to-moderate ADHD traits. None of them have been diagnosed with ADHD.
I have at least one cousin that I've been told has been diagnosed with ADHD...but I have a lot of cousins. Statistically, there are probably more members of my family tree who have ADHD. (Based on stories of one ancestor, it sounds like he certainly was hyperactive. He was a country doctor well known for bouncing his leg constantly if he ever sat down.)
Yes, there is a genetic component to ADHD.It may not be your sibling, but somewhere along the line you will find someone in your direct family who fits the criteria. A lot of them go undiagnosed until adult life... that seems to be your case.
Not many doctors consider ADHD in adults. Most don't have enough knowledeg about it and usually go thru a lot of diagnoses before they get to the right one.
