Hi there, I uploaded a video on my ADHD Youtube channel where I go over some helpful tips, remedies, self reflection, boundary setting, emotional intelligence, & educational strategies as to how to manage in a family with multiple family members who have ADHD. Hope this helps, and best regards to you and your family & loved ones!

Youtube Channel - "wilhelm the esoteric" and the video is titled "How to MANAGE in a FAMILY When MULTIPLE Members Have ADHD" (Link to channel is also in my bio). Hope this helps.

Wow. A 50-minute video. Very impressive dedication. Thanks. I started watching but then got distracted. Will try again. Although I admit I only watched a bit, I liked the emotional baiting and gaslighting definitions. Ive definitely engaged in those myself and am working to most away from those very nonproductive behaviors. Do you have any suggestions for how to deal with a spouse that does t believe in ADHD? They don't believe in ADHD, even thought I have been diagnosed, and my 8-year-old although undiagnosed almost certainly has it. My wife is a bit of a tiger mom and thinks the solution is almost always yelling and discipline which I think for kids with ADHD as well as myself is unfortunately often counterproductive. Thanks!

I also have a spouse who doesn't "buy into" the ADHD diagnosis. He's a super-achiever and is continually exasperated by my ADHD symptoms. (Oh, the arguments we've had over the past 25 years, lol!!) It's the main reason I haven't pursued ADHD solutions till now. I think what people really need is a simple, visual and science-based video of what ADHD actually is and how it presents. That's on my to-do list for some point in the near future.

Hi there, thank you for your kind words. Sorry to hear about the difficulty. Having a partner that does not believe/accept ADHD can unfortunately be the norm. As therapists, in the U.S. we use a book called the DSM-5, that includes every condition, disorder etc, in order to assist in the diagnosis process (including ADHD). I recommend google-ing "DSM-5 ADHD" which will show the requirements/criteria to fit an ADHD diagnosis. I also have a video on my ADHD channel called "ADHD Diagnosis & The Difficulty of Acceptance, that I show parents/individuals that have difficulty accepting/coming to terms with ADHD, along with a helpful playlist called "Coming to Terms with an ADHD Diagnosis" that has videos delving further into the matter. Best Regards to you & your family!

Thanks so much! I'll check out your channel. :)

Thanks. I appreciate your response and will check out your video on acceptance. I am in the US and am familiar with DSM-5, as I was diagnosed less than two years ago and had to convince my psychiatrist that I might have ADHD after my therapist, who has ADHD, wrote a letter to my psychiatrist telling him that he thought my ADHD was the most severe that he hasn't seen. Similar to Tough Bany, my spouse is a laser focused over-educated over achiever that isn't distracted by two yelling kids, mess everywhere, husband losing things, whatever, she can just pull it together and finish reports, projects, high stakes negotiations, etc. I can not.

That sounds pretty rough, & I'm sorry to hear that. This seems to be a scenario that comes up frequently on this page from what I've noticed these last couple of years unfortunately. Because of this I decided to make a video that addresses why individuals differ in task initiative, manner of preparation, value systems etc. , and how ADHD can complicate things further if symptoms are not worked on. Resources and helpful reflection/self reflection tools are provided. In order to treat ourselves better as individuals/couples, we have to know & understand ourselves further as individuals and as a couple. Hope the video is of some help/insight!
