weight loss

What are other people’s experiences with weight loss after starting meds? I’ve been on medication for 4/5 months now and lost a fair amount of weight. I wasn’t a big guy to begin with so it’s pretty noticeable.

cheers all

Hi there, having a medication that is less long lasting can help. Mine lasts for 8hrs and my weight has been fine. My daughter however is having the same problem as you. Her medication lasts for up to 12 hours which is the problem I think.

I top up with 5mg or 10mg of immediate release when I need it after my long lasting one runs out. Sometimes I don't need it but it's there for when I do.

Hope that helps.

Interesting, thanks for feedback. I didn’t know that I can ask Dr for extended release & immediate as well. I’ll discuss it.

Thanks

Hi Gunners1, Yep! I had gained weight during lockdown and after changing jobs, that led to me seeking out my diagnosis, once I started the meds (Elvanse) I SHED dude! Now Im about as skinny as I was at 20 when I had Malaria!! But, its been over a year, the initial weight loss has subsided, and Im now pretty stable give or take a KG every few months (but never a consistant loss) So as long as you keep appetite and eating, it should calm down and keep you Svelt and Shlim ("Im Wiry!!") Stay well )

I don’t think I lost weight on most of the meds I tried but I’m on elvanse now and I noticeably eat a lot less and drink a lot less wine! Just don’t fancy it! My husband keeps asking if I’m dieting but I’m not I just for the first time don’t fancy it - I’m naturally moderating which I can not tell you how nice it feels to not have to battle that all or nothing feeling Iv always had. Iv had issues with food and diet before and I have a toddler and my New Year’s resolution was to not weigh myself or talk about diets or being fat! And so although I’m so tempted to see if Iv lost weight the last few weeks I’m not going too weigh myself - clothes feel more comfy so I think I have tho

I think that I lost a little weight the few months that I was on Adderall, but I've definitely gained in the last couple of years since changing so a non-stimulant. (Then again, my life has been very stressful, I haven't been getting much exercise, plus I'm definitely middle-aged and can't deny it to myself anymore.)

My initial dose was 40 mg and lost 20 lbs. Then my Dr switched me to 30 MG xl release. I've only gained 4 lbs back, but I'm a woman.
