Help! Looking for an ADHD specialist for my 21 year old son

My son was diagnosed in elementary school and has been on meds on and off since then. We can't find someone who really seems to understand how to help him He was in therapy for years to no avail. Are there any ADHD specialists you can recommend? I'm at a loss! He is trying to take college courses and hasn't been very successful. HELP!

.,.. cant find someone to “ help” him is such a vague statement. what type of “ help” does he desire?

there is not any catch all professional that “fixes” people… so we all gotta be clear on what “ help” we are seeking❤️

Start with sharing your worries with his GP and be aware the GP won't share his medical details with you (confidentiality reasons) and your son and others may not like that you are doing this.But 1. You feel better having given the burden of responsibility to the rightful people and 2. That is all you can do.

Unless he has a cognitive deficit you will have to let him figure things out himself and define boundaries for both of you.

Mistakes are inevitable along the way.
