Hi. I’ve been diagnosed with adhd and start my autism assessment in a couple of weeks. Unfortunately didn’t work this out till two years ago in my early forties. I’ve gone through life thinking I’m useless, lazy, stupid, I could go on. I take Elvanse for my ADHD, it has stopped me being constantly exhausted and sleeping all the time. I find I still need to take time out and lay down, but think this due to being over stimulated by stress and sensory issues that come with autism, as it usually happens when I’ve been out. I’d like to try the non stimulants with the Elvanse because I like to think my brain could work a little better, but couldn’t afford it as I was private and had to pay for everything. I’ve found listening to books on autism quite helpful, unmasking autism by Devon Price is pretty good. Twitter has quite a large community of people with AUDHD, and also YouTube. Audio books, twitter and YouTube have helped me put names to things I have struggled with all my life as I didn’t realise they had names, they have helped me to understand myself a little better. I feel I still have some way to go, but hope this is a much needed turning point in my life. Good luck x
