About my ADHD journey:
I am Ti Guo, and I have been competing for my ADHD for my entire life since age of 4, where I would sometimes jump up in the middle of class and start dancing, then in high school and college I am so distracted that on average I can only be concentrated for 60~70% of my class time and had to go back and relearn things myself after class. Overall, I have tried multiple psychotherapists, and many apps, and one med and find it very effective -- Vyvanse, and have kept 60%+ of my ADHD symptoms under control.
At the same time, while I am still struggling every day, I am trying very hard and is lucky to be able to work as a Software Engineer as my day job — which let me naturally find software solutions and build software systems to combat my own ADHD.
Here are a few of my top recommendations for software solutions:
- Coworking apps that gives maximum accountability with timebox: I recommend flow.club (looks like focusmate.com but have upto 9 people hold your tasks accountable verbally per 1 hour session). You can find me there at: in.flow.club/h/ti?inviteCod...
- Hiring a Personal Assistant for 0.5$~5$/hour to help remind me of my tasks and deadlines and my best of doing things, use this to combat my problem of the bad sense of time and memory issues. I wrote an unpublished blog about it here. Feel free to message me or comment below if you like to try this yourself: docs.google.com/document/d/...
- Simple note-taking apps that has no distraction and help me organize my random thoughts that pops everywhere: I recently got an idea to build a reminder logging & note-taking chatbot with human assistant that let you set smart reminders and organize notes through text like following (ultrabrain.openprinciples.o..., like to get your feedback:
- When you send a message like: “When I sleep, I will take at least 5 minutes to quiet my mind, and remind me by a phone call at 11pm every day”
- > This means the Personal Assistant will give you a phone call at 11pm and check in with you to see if you have done this habit.
- When you send a message like: “I only be around people I know I am going to be around for the rest of my life, because all benefits in life come from compound interest #principle #remind me when I am talking with a friend”
- > This means the chatbot will give you a message next time when you have a task or google calendar event that is related to “talking with friend”
- When you send a message like: “Remind me at 4pm to call friend Alice”
- > This will log a task to your task list that is due at 4pm, and the AI / Personal Assistant will send you a text reminder of that task at 4pm, and remind you of a principle of yours, related to “talking with friend”
- When you send a message like: “I decided to leave Peter’s mastermind group because his value system is a very short-term #decision”
- > This will log a note with “decision” tag on your Notion’s Notes table. And it could automatically tag your previous principle “I only be around people I know I am going to be around for the rest of my life, because all benefits in life come from compound interest" to it.
