I've had ADHD all my life but much less was understood about it when a teacher first suggested it. I didn't fall into the list of symptoms they knew at the time. Years later, in my 30's, I was in a therapy session and the therapist realized I had ADHD. Now I see a specialist for the meds and a therapist for counseling. All these help but still feel lost and overwhelmed a decade after diagnosis.
I've always told people that you can't be harder on someone with ADHD than they are on themselves. This is true for me, at least. It's funny, I can't even focus enough to start working on strategies to cope with my ADHD, whatever those things may be. It's just all overwhelming. And I know that major stress events make the symptoms worse. And these last two years have been horrible (even when you remove the COVID factor). Not looking for sympathy but more to explain that my brain is totally tapped out and unable to get itself back on track. No support from family/friends on this (for various reasons). So, again, very lost at this point. But, I am thankful that I finally found this website and am hoping this may help a little.
Thanks and best to everyone.
P.S. I'm able to only access the website via web (PC) and no smartphone. I attempted to add tags but the website was being wonky. Hope this post gets pushed into the newbie section. Thanks again.

Have you thought about developing a routine especially hitting the gym first thing in the morning to activate the neurotransmitters in your brain? Do you have a job? Start analyzing yourself and jotting down the highs and lows throughout your day. What do you enjoy? Are you part of a volunteer group/ organization? Can you work with a life coach to get you back on track? Are you on medication and if yes, do you know if you are having a side affect to the meds?
I discovered that during COVID and having too much time on my hands can leave me feeling "tapped out" and depressed. I am a little older and am very self aware so I snap myself out of feeling down and out. I go hiking and swear by the sun and the role it plays on regulating mood. This is a great forum to get ideas of things that may or may not work for you. Write things down so you can relieve some of the overwhelming feeling of keeping it all bottled up and work on one thing at a time. Hold yourself accountable to completing anything. When you start feeling productive, you start feeling good. Good Luck!
