Mood stabilizer and Vyvanse

Has anyone tried taking a mood stabilizer to try and manage the irritability Vyvanse causes to some? I’m currently taking lamictal due to the moodiness ADHD causes me to have.

Just wondering if I can make a good combo.

Hey! I tried a few mood stabilizers with Vyvanse and every time I did, it caused me to have a weird Brian fog where I was actually more forgetful, anxious, depressed and irritable. I never tried lamactal and Vyvanse together (I took lamactal years ago and I didn’t like it’s side effects), so I can’t tell you that mood stabilizer with Vyvanse.

I’m currently taking Vyvanse and a clonodine .1mg during the day and one in the evening to combat the “Vyvanse Crash” that causes the mood instability. I’ve also found eating healthy throughout the day helps a lot too.

I recommend looking up “Vyvanse Crash” and you’ll find a bunch of blogs on how people overcome it without meds— I still needed meds in the end, but I did notice prior to taking meds when I took care of myself better, I’m not as anxious or moody.

I’m still dealing with a bit of depression if I stay up when Vyvanse wears off. 2nd does of Clonidine puts me to sleep in the evening though so it’s usually short lived haha

Good luck with your med changes… hope that helps a bit. Interested in hearing more about your experience ☺️

I have not tried mood stabilizers, but I recently found out I was consuming a lot of B6 in my vitamin supplements which actually can increase irritability (also restlessness, nausea, and any almost burning sensations in the joints which is something I actually noticed when taking vyvanse / wellbutrin!!) . I used to get so irritated from vyvanse, so I switched back to adderall even though it also made me irritated, just not as much. As soon as I stopped taking the vitamins I haven’t had any. problem with irritable which is absolutely crazy. So I wonder if it would have helped to know this when I was taking vyvanse.

Anyways I think the daily recommended level is 1.5mg which you can get from just a normal diet. I was taking up to 30mg daily with all my vitamins for almost 3 YEARS. Why does no one tell us these things!!

If that doesnt help I hope you figure it out though ❤️ Going for a run in the afternoon during those vyvanse crashes also helped let out my anger and made for a super motivated workout.
