These ADHD meds are making me miserable!

it seems like I’ve tried them all! None of them work well except for Jornay PM! Unfortunately my insurance doesn’t cover it. Even with a pre-authorization they won’t allow it. Now I am forced to Take Vyvanse again because that is what my insurance excepts, however I am in a constant fog, I am exhausted, even breathing takes effort! I become anti-social and angry, and it makes my heart race! I think it’s time for me to give up the stimulants altogether! I’ve been on them for 3 1/2 years, with a mini break in between. I think it’s time for me to reset because I’d rather my ADHD symptoms haunt me then feel like this!!

I am so sorry you’ve had a negative experience. It is frustrating that insurance companies try and control what they cover based on cost as opposed to what’s best for the patient. Have you ever been prescribed Concerta?

Yes, I’ve tried Concerta. Unfortunately it didn’t mix so well with my anxiety...I thought I was having a heart attack, and 2 hours into it I felt so disconnected from myself so I slept the whole day. Adderall, Adzenys, Ritalin, Vyvanse and Concerta make me feel this way. The only medication I felt “normal” on was Jornay Pm.

Just wanted to check in with you to see what you were doing with meds? I’m fixing to start jornay and can’t take other meds because of my panic disorder and it makes it worse.

That is how I felt on Vyvanse, too. I weaned off of it and have an appt for a full workup next week.

Have you asked your doctor to try to get the insurance company to approve the Jornay? Sometimes an insurance company will approve something they don't normally cover if you've tried everything else.

We did try for the Jornay, but my insurance won’t budget. I’d rather be unmedicated than feel like a zombie. I just stopped rather than wean because I couldn’t take it.
