Support group in NYC?

I am an adult looking for a support group in NYC, which I can't seem to find. I can't believe there are not resources for adults with ADD in NYC. Can anyone recommend a support group? Thanks!

Sure go to Chadd.org;

First You may create an account and with a small fee for membership they send out four magazines a year on ADHD.

2nd. Plus will you gain access to the resources within the website such as locating providers in New York City, Chadd support groups in New York City.

3nd. There’s a section in Chadd.org. Covers adult ADHD that’s extremely helpful.

This took me time to sift through the information, willingness to explore and learn about how we can help yourself

Thanks so much! They actually pointed me here. I am also in addition to their great resources looking for a support group. There is no CHADD group in NYC. Which is stunning to me. Part of me wants to start one but I am sure that is the ADD talking...

I too have been looking for groups, and didn't see any..I'm from staten Island but work midtown. And it's time I need some talk therapy !! Currently taking 15mg adderall 3 times a day. Helps big time but brings out old habits , like smoking among others ! This condition is exhausting to say the least, oh and also being treated for depression, take 20mg celexa. I love this blog, I can relate to almost every post. Oh and addiction in family, mom was an alcoholic..sorry for the ramble, but Im sure you all can relate

Yes, I relate. There is one group I found on the upper west side - maaddsg.org/Home_Page.html

Might give that a try. Do you like Celexa?

I take the generic (citalopram)..its pretty good, just kinda takes the edge off I guess. Just wish I didnt need a stupid pill to be normal..God knows what they're doing to my insides

I just discovered a CHADD support group in Florida and went to my first meeting on Thursday. Maybe you should start one in NYC. Go onto CHADD and see what's required, etc.

That’s your ADD talking. I can barely organize my own life let alone the NYC chapter of CHADD.

Check out Meetup. I am in NJ outside of NYC. I get a lot of emails about ADHD groups thru Meetup. They look cool but I have never traveled into the city to attend them. Good luck! Finding your peps will help you feel supported.

Hi,

Check out Manhattan Adult ADD Support Group. maaddsg.org/Home_Page.html .

It's a big meeting on the UWS, with speakers each month. I have recommended clients to this group and they experience a general sense of relief, they/we "are not alone."

If you are looking for something more private, I do occasionally hold ADHD coaching groups. These meetings are good because you relate with each other and hold each other accountable. If you are interested, let me know, otherwise check out the above-mentioned meeting. It looks like the next meeting is March 5th.
