I am working on my doctorate in psychology. I have completed all of the coursework and am almost finished with the pre-doctoral internship. My dissertation is hopefully ready for the IRB application stage. If so, I'll be doing the research over this summer and writing up the findings this fall.
My children are mostly grown and gone. They are 16, 27, & 29. The oldest and youngest have ADHD. They are supportive of my decision to be in grad school because it keeps me too busy to meddle in their lives.

My ADHD interfered w/my desire to become a psychologist, so I stopped graduate school after completing my masters degree. I was struggling w/memory, disorganization, hyperactivity and felt ashamed that I couldn't reach my highest goal, including having a soul-mate leading to marriage!
Sounds like you have steadily progressed towards your goals. Thank you for sharing your story,
When I was in my 20s, I dropped out of school before finishing my bachelors for all of the same reasons you mentioned. When I got a second chance in my late 40s, I jumped at it and have really pushed myself to buckle down and get things done. It's been hard but so fulfilling. Give yourself permission to try again.
