any feedback on Daytrana patch for adhd. We have tried multiple stimulants. Currently taking 40 mg Metadate CD. Doesn’t last all day and still having trouble with impulsiveness and emotional control

My 12 year old has used it for a little over a year. I was so thankful this was offered because my daughter has trouble swallowing pills and really hated the taste of the powdered meds we tried in pudding, applesauce, etc.

Daytrana was life changing for us, simply because it eliminated the battle to get her to take meds every morning. My daughter absolutely hates taking pills, even crushed up & "disguised". With the patch, she willingly puts it on each morning and the day starts so much more smoothly. For her, it was a switch from Vyvanse, and in hindsight, I think the Vyvanse was at least partly responsible for the amount of anger she was constantly carrying. I just haven't seen that nearly as much since switching.

We just started a low dose with our 11 year old. He's also on a low dose of sertraline. We've seen all the classic side effects, like headache, stomachache, and a crash late in the day when it wears off. So far haven't noticed positive effects, but school hasn't started yet, and that's the main area we need help. After 3 weeks, the side effects have lessened and we're going to increase the sertraline a bit to see if helps the crashing. We'll keep going into the school year, but will stop if we see no good effects. A big pro is not fighting over taking a pill. A con is that you need to remember to take it off at the right time. The side effects are usually kicking in hard about 4 hours after application and take about 60 to 90 min to go away after you remove the patch.
