My daughter has been using the Daytrana patch for years. She is now 24 and about to be off of our insurance. When I look at jobs she is applying for and their insurance plans, many do not cover AT ALL. The co-pay assistance that Daytrana offers really isn't helpful if the insurance pays NOTHING. ( It is great if insurance pays something.) It can only save yo a max of $80. If meds are $600 or more saving $80 doesn't help much. Even generic patches are often over $400/month. She doesn't make alot so far but we are trying to help her move out on her own. Has anyone found a way to get Daytrana affordably without insurance?

Finding cost assistance for Daytrana
Welcome! We are excited you have joined the group. We hope you find support in the group. Just curious, has your daughter tried methylphenidate by mouth? Or was curious the reason she uses the patch.
Also, have you seen the company's website?
daytrana.com/?gad_source=1&...
They are offering some deal on the patches.
I have also heard that sometime the office has samples and can help that way. Did her doctor have any advice.
Hope you find a solution best of luck.
Yes. She has tried most everything over the years. Methylphenidate is the best med group for her but the patch has the best delivery system for her. My son only likes name brand Concerta and it has to do with delivery too. I wish other things worked for them. Hard to get name brand concerta covered but we finally got it done with his current insurance. She is ok as long as she can stay on Tricare but that ends soon.
All I saw on the website was the copay assistance. My son uses that with his insurance and pays very little, but with insurances she has the possibility of having with jobs she's applying for, Daytrana in NOT covered at all by insurance so the copay assistance isn't enough. Even the generic patches are pretty costly.
Have you had her ask her doctor for help. Also, have you called the company who makes the patches?
Hi Momto2adhders,
Thank you for contacting CHADD National Resource Center on ADHD. I would verify with your employer about your coverage, if I am not mistaken kids are cover until they are 26 years old. Here is the information dol.gov/agencies/ebsa/about... on young adults and the affordable act. I also went to the Daytrana website and found this. daytrana.com/myoffer.php Hopefully this is helpful. GoodRX.com is also a good resource and you can get medication without submitting to your insurance, but double check on the cost. Here are some tips on low cost for ADHD treatment. chadd.org/attention-article... Hopefully these resources are helpful.
If you have further questions, please let us know. We are here to help!
