why are there so many medicines in each group?

Tere are different medications that are considered methylphenidate. The same for amphetamines and non stimulants.

I'm wondering why there are so many. Shouldn't they all be the same ? Are there any differences in the medicines in each class? If so, hat are they?

They are often very similar but different formulas. Some brands do long release and some are immediate. Some can be crushed, some can’t. Because of these slight differences some work better than others for individuals. None are better/worse generally, it’s about what works best for you.

Medicines aren’t just the active drug, in this case methylphenidate, other things are needed to create the tablet as we take it and everybody’s body works differently with these combinations once absorbed, you can have a side effect on one brand and not another for example.

Always best to talk to your doctor about your desired effect, effect and symptoms to find what’s optimum for you.
