Looking for some feedback on what to feed my child before Focalin XR 10 mg. He's 8, recently diagnosed with ADHD after a LONG LONG road trying to figure out why he couldn't control his emotions. We've had GREAT results so far, but noticed some dips around lunch time, and variation on when things wear off.
Any tips on how to optimize medication release with what you feed the child for breakfast? Ideas on what a therapeutic dose might before a 60lb child? Exact timing of meds before school?
I'd love to hear other folks' experiences with Focalin. Feels like it will be a Godsend, but we have to experiment with how to get it exactly right.

HiMy daughter has been on Focalin for about 4 years. She takes one dose after breakfast about 730am then one at 230pm. She is a competitive gymnast so we needed the medication to last thru practice at 8/830pm.
We do some kind of protein and grain and fruit in the morning. Hope this helps.
My grandson was on it all through grade school starting in kindergarten. We started low. I don't remember the starting dose but by 6th grade he was on 20mg am and another 10mg at lunch. He did so well on it until middle school when it suddenly stopped working and we had to go back to the drawing board.
Not every medication works for every child. His brother does not do well with stimulants. Focalin XR was a disaster for him.
