Focalin?

My son is 11 and was just diagnosed with ADHD. His doctor prescribed focalin extended release capsules. Waiting for the pharmacy to fill the prescription... we may have to wait until next week. Just wanted to know if any of you have used focalin and whether it has been successful or not. We will also be scheduling behavioral therapy.

My son is 10 and FocalinXR was the first choice.

His school performance was excellent , in just 3 days teachers noticed a huge improvement.

Unfortunately he experienced bad headaches and difficulties falling asleep so we decided to stop and try non stimulant.

Now we’re on the third medication. Different kids react differently to medication so please be patient.

We have been using focalin for 2 years now for my son and he has had amazing success with it where other meds have not. We tried several other medications before focalin. The only issue we have with the focalin is it makes it hard for my son to sleep, tp remedy this we use clonidine as well and he does great! Best of luck to you!

Thank you! His pediatrician did tell me to watch out for any changes in his sleep pattern or appetite. I am hopeful about the positive effects the medication may have but I have been so nervous about medicating him!

Thank you! No IEP yet but I will be working with the school to set up either an IEP or 504 plan asap

IEP is better for your situation!
